Who is at risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome?
It is said that women have three times higher chances than men when it comes to contracting carpal tunnel syndrome. The reason is that women have a smaller carpal tunnel than men, and in most cases, the dominant hand is first affected and induces more pain. The diabetic patients and people suffering from other metabolic disorders including neurological issues also are more susceptible to carpal tunnel syndrome. However, this syndrome is reportedly seen only in adults.
The risk of contracting a severe carpal tunnel syndrome is not narrowed to people who work in a specific industry or do a specific job. However, it is more common in people who perform data entry, sewing, manufacturing, assembling, etc.
