How could wearing a brace help with my elbow pain?
A counterforce brace may be recommended by your doctor if you have been suffering from lateral or medial epicondylitis. A counterforce brace is an elastic strap, which is worn one or two inches below the elbow. This exerts a certain amount of pressure on the forearm muscles, and this alleviates the tension on the tendon that connects the elbow bone and the muscles. It is always worn until the pain subsides. Then, it is worn only during activities that stress out the elbow and arm. Olecranon bursa or cubital tunnel syndrome may be treated by elbow pads. The elbow pads prevent the elbow from being stressed. To maintain the elbow in a straight position, a splint can also be recommended in the treatment of cubital tunnel syndrome.
